Neonatology & NICU
Neonatology is a part of pediatrics that mostly takes care of newborn babies who are ill from birth or have a premature birth. It is a unit of neonatal intensive care. Before birth, a baby depends upon the mother for every function. But when the baby leaves the womb its body system will start working. In some cases, some babies have a problem while making such changes. For this Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is providing special care to these newborn babies.

Which babies need such special care?
Some babies are born earlier as not completing 37 weeks of pregnancy or some babies with low weight even less than 2.5kg. Or some may have any health issues. Those babies especially need this NICU care. Normally this problem arises if you have twins, triplets, or any multiple born babies. Also, some maternal or delivery factors are included which increase the chance of admitting to NICU.
